“I’M THANKFUL FOR THE CROSS OF JESUS”
The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:18 NLT
THE CROSS WAS THE ULTIMATE SYMBOL OF TORTURE AND DEATH.
- Jesus changes everything.
- By the time of Constantine in the 4th century it became a symbol of everything that Christianity stood for.
- A symbol of hope.
THE CROSS CONVINCES ME THAT I’M LOVED.
16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. 17 God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.” John 3:16-17 NLT
6 When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. 7 Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. 8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. 9 And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. 10 For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. 11 So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.
Romans 5:6-11 NLT
- He doesn’t love our sin—but He does love us.
- We don’t deserve any of it.
- We all had a part in the cross because of our sin.
THE CROSS REMINDS ME OF WHAT JESUS DID FOR ME.
He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed. 1 Peter 2:24 NLT
- Jesus died on the cross so that I could die to sin.
- Jesus died on the cross to set me free.
- Jesus died on the cross to heal me.
THE CROSS REMINDS ME TO DIE TO SELF DAILY.
20 My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So, I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. 21 I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die. Galatians 2:20-21 NLT
- Death over my own will.
- Death over my own desires.
- Living a life trusting in The Son of God.
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. Matthew 6:33 NLT
I’M THANKFUL FOR THE CROSS OF JESUS!
As for me, may I never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that cross, my interest in this world has been crucified, and the world’s interest in me has also died. Galatians 6:14 NLT
Satan miscalculated when he got Jesus up on the cross. He thought that he had won when Jesus died. But then the work was finished, which meant that Jesus could commit His Spirit to the Father, completely pure, after having gone through everything that a human being can go through here in the world. Jesus then conquered sin, death, hell, and the grave. Jesus offers eternal life to all who believe in him and the power of the Cross.
Next steps for me today…
- To surrender completely to Jesus for salvation.
- To boast in the cross of Jesus Christ every chance we have.
- To give thanks for the Cross of Jesus by living for him.
