‘A Life Like No Other – Stop Comparing Your Purpose’ – 4.14.2024

The fastest way to kill something special is to compare it to something else.

The reason you can’t do what someone else can do is because you weren’t called to their purpose.

  1. You are perfectly created by God to fulfill God’s purpose for you.

10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10 NLT

Comparison is the enemy of purpose.

  1. You can’t fulfill God’s purpose for you when you are comparing to someone else.

2 So she (Mary) came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!” 3 So, Peter and

the other disciples started for the tomb. 4 Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. // 6 Then Simon Peter came along behind him and went straight into the tomb… // 8 Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed. John 20: 2-4, 6a, 8 NIV

20 Peter turned around and saw behind them the disciple Jesus loved… 21 Peter asked Jesus, “What about him, Lord?” 22 Jesus replied, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? As for you, follow me.” John 21:20a-22 NLT

1b…and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. Hebrews 12:1b-2 NIV

I’m not called to run someone else’s race.

9If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God rained him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. Romans 10:9-10 NLT
