“Resurrection Sunday – We Celebrate A Risen Savior!’ – 3.31.2024

RESURRECTION SUNDAY – WE CELEBRATE A RISEN SAVIOR!

A LIFE LIKE NO OTHER:

  • Throughout history, the influence Jesus had on the lives of  people has never been surpassed.
  • Following Jesus’ crucifixion, his disciples had forsaken him in  the Garden of Gethsemane to save their own lives. But after  they met the resurrected Christ, they were radically changed. Suddenly, they were willing to give their lives to tell  Jesus’ story to the world.
  • What changed everyone?

THE FOUNDATION OF CHRISTIANITY IS AN EVENT.

  • The historical events of the crucifixion, death, burial, and  resurrection of Jesus Christ are foundational to Christianity. The death and resurrection of our Lord are inseparable, you can’t have one without the other.

Peter and John before the Council

16 “What should we do with these men?” they asked each other. “We can’t  deny that they have performed a miraculous sign, and everybody in  Jerusalem knows about it. 17 But to keep them from spreading their  propaganda any further, we must warn them not to speak to anyone in Jesus’  name again.” 18 So they called the apostles back in and commanded them  never again to speak or teach in the name of Jesus. 19 But Peter and John replied, “Do you think God wants us to obey you rather than him? 20 We  cannot stop telling about everything we have seen and heard.” Acts 4:16-20  NLT

Historian Philip Schaff described the overwhelming influence which Jesus  had on the subsequent history and cultures of the world: “This Jesus of  Nazareth, without money and arms, conquered more millions than  Alexander, Caesar, Mohammed, and Napoleon; without science […] he  shed more light on things human and divine than all philosophers and  scholars combined; without the eloquence of schools, he spoke such  words of life as were never spoken before or since, and produced  effects which lie beyond the reach of orator or poet; without writing a  single line, he set more pens in motion, and furnished themes for more  sermons, orations, discussions, learned volumes, works of art, and  songs of praise than the whole army of great men of ancient and  modern times.”

  • Jesus lived a life like no other.
  • Jesus died like no other.
  • Jesus was resurrected like no other.
  • Jesus changed lives like no other.
  • Jesus can change your life and save your soul like no other.

Next steps for me today…

  • To surrender my life to Jesus and live for him.
  • To receive the power of the resurrection in me by faith.
