Life Hacks

One day your life will come to an end

And just as each person is destined to die once and after that comes judgment, Hebrews 9:27 NLT

Life Hack – a strategy or technique adopted in order to manage one’s time and daily activities in a more efficient way.

Part of being a follower of Jesus is finishing

However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace. Acts 20:24 NIV

25 A large crowd was following Jesus. He turned around and said to them, 26 “If you want to be my disciple, you must, by comparison, hate everyone else—your father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple. 27 And if you do not carry your own cross and follow me, you cannot be my disciple. 28 “But don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it? 29 Otherwise, you might complete only the foundation before running out of money, and then everyone would laugh at you. 30 They would say, ‘There’s the person who started that building and couldn’t afford to finish it!’ 31 “Or what king would go to war against another king without first sitting down with his counselors to discuss whether his army of 10,000 could defeat the 20,000 soldiers marching against him? 32 And if he can’t, he will send a delegation to discuss terms of peace while the enemy is still far away. 33 So you cannot become my disciple without giving up everything you own. Luke 14:25-33 NLT

  • Decide that you are going to be all in.
    • Jesus’ purpose was not to gather large crowds, it was to develop true disciples
    • Jesus is not saying to love others less, he is saying to love him more

Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me. Luke 9:23 NLT

  • Determine where you want to end up.
  • You are going to end up somewhere, end up there on purpose
    • We must constantly ask, what is God’s vision for this area of my life?

Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. Proverbs 29:18 KJV

When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild. But whoever obeys the law is joyful. Proverbs 29:18 NLT

However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace. Acts 20:24 NIV

  • What are you good at?
  • What have you been through?
  • What do others see in you?

Fools think their own way is right, but the wise listen to others. Proverbs 12:15 NLT

  • Take steps daily to get there.
  • Vision + Direction = Destination.

But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. James 1:22 NLT

  • Avoid distractions.

15 So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. 16 Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. 17 Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. Ephesians 5:15-17 NLT

  • Fight discouragement with truth.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 NLT

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7 NIV

Next Steps:

  • Start what you have never started.
  • Finish what you have started.
  • Stop building what you were never meant to build.
