The Vision Of Journey Church

Journey Church exists to reach people who are disconnected from God and lead them to become fully devoted followers of Christ.

We believe a Great Commitment to the Great Commandment and the Great Commission will grow a great church.

The Great Commandment
36 “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?” 37 Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:36-40 NLT

Love God, Love People

The Great Commission
18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20 NLT

Love God and people enough to go in obedience

When our vision isn’t clear, it can be frustrating.
When our vision isn’t clear, we can lose our way.

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. 6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT

● Light – God’s Word.
103 How sweet your words taste to me; they are sweeter than honey. 104 Your commandments give me understanding; no wonder I hate every false way of life. 105 Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. 106 I’ve promised it once, and I’ll promise it again: I will obey your righteous regulations. Psalm 119:103-106 NLT

● Great Focus – Prayer is focusing on God.
11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. 12 In those days when you pray, I will listen. 13 If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.” Jeremiah 29:11-13 NLT

14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us – whatever we ask – we know that we have what we asked of him. 1 John 5:14-15 NIV

Four things we focus on here at Journey:
Worship, Prayer, Discipleship/Life Groups, and Serving. We want to be laser beam focused.

● God’s Provision – God opportunities will require faith.
Some steps in life won’t be revealed until we take the first step.
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. Matthew 6:33 NLT
And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. Hebrews 11:6 NLT

● God’s Timing – God’s timing is perfect.
Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act… Psalm 37:7 NLT

● God has made it clear we need to go multi-site.
● We know there are other times we need to offer a service to reach those who aren’t being reached
● We have to do a better job of making disciples.
● We have to do a better job of equipping people to share their faith.
● We believe we can impact more families by adding on to the Children’s department.
● We know it will take everyone doing their part to have the greatest impact.

Next Steps for me today…
● Pray for God’s will for Journey Church every day.
● Pray for God to open doors and for us to be willing to take the step.
● Do your part by serving, praying, tithing, and giving.
