‘Truth Matters – Week 3’ – 3.30.2025

THE TRUTH IS…YOU ARE NOT ENOUGH (BUT HE IS)

Without Christ, you are not enough.

  • “The problem with using ‘You are enough’ as motivation is  that it creates a false gospel—one where you become the  savior.”

8 Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the  spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ. 9 For in Christ  lives all the fullness of God in a human body. 10a So you also are  complete through your union with ChristColossians 2:8-10a NLT

  • The lie of ‘You are enough!’ is a destructive lie that often  attacks you in two ways.
  1. You try to be enough: But when you inevitably fall short,  the enemy floods you with shame, guilt, and a sense of  failure.
  2. You truly believe you are enough: Then you start relying  on yourself instead of God.
  • The truth is, confidence in yourself will slowly kill your  dependence on the Savior.

Without Jesus, We are…

  • Dead in our sins. (Eph. 2:1)
  • Without hope and without help. (Eph. 2:12)
  • Foolish, deceived, and slaves to sin. (Titus 3:3)
  • Spiritually blind. (1 John 2:11)
  • Wretched and miserable. (Rom. 7:24)
  • Ignorant, separated from the life of God. (Eph. 4:18)
  • Objects of wrath, destined for destruction. (Rom. 9:22)

10 No one is righteous—not even one… 12 All have turned away; all  have become useless. No one does good, not even a single oneRomans 3:10, 12 NLT

“You won’t fully cherish what you have in Christ until you recall who you  were without him.” Smith Wigglesworth

1 Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many  sins. 2 You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying  the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is  the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. 3 All

of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and  inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature, we were subject  to Gods anger, just like everyone else. 4 But God is so rich in mercy,  and he loved us so much, 5that even though we were dead because  of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is  only by Gods grace that you have been saved!) Ephesians 2:1-5  NLT

The Truth is…

  • You’re helpless, but Jesus is your helper. (Heb. 13:6) You’re weak, but Jesus is your strength. (2 Cor. 12:9-10) You’re depressed, but Jesus is your hope. (2 Thess. 2:16) You’re exhausted, but Jesus is your rest. (Matt. 11:28) You’re anxious, but Jesus is your peace. (John 14:27) You’re struggling financially, but Jesus is your provider. (Phil.  4:19)
  • You’re hurting, but Jesus is your comforter. (2 Cor. 1:3-4) You’re in bondage, but Jesus is the Savior who sets you free.  (John 8:36)

In what area of your life are you relying on yourself instead of  God?

God Says to You…

  • Call to me and I will answer you… (Jer. 33:3)
  • Call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you… (Ps. 50:15) The LORD is near to all who call on him… (Ps. 145:18) When I am in distress, I call to you. (Ps. 86:7)

Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.  (Rom. 10:13)
