How Do I Get Connected at Church?

How Do I Get Connected at Church?

The Church is the hope of the world!

Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it. Matthew 16:18 NLT

Make the decision to belong to a local church.

Obey your spiritual leaders, and do what they say. Their work is to watch over your souls, and they are accountable to God. Give them reason to do this with joy and not with sorrow. That would certainly not be for your benefit. Hebrews 13:17 NLT

You cannot love Jesus and hate the church

25 For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her 26 to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word. Ephesians 5:25-26 NLT

● You will get disappointed.
● You will get hurt.
● You will get better.

Become a part of a group.

You were created to be in community.

15 This makes for harmony among the members, so that all the members care for each other. 16 If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad. 1 Corinthians 12:25-26 NLT

Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2 NLT

● You will get to know people.
● You will be known by people.

Join a team and use your gift to serve.

You have been given a spiritual gift that makes you unusually effective in a certain area.

You can discover your gift by asking:
● What are you naturally good at?
● What are you passionate about?
● What have other people affirmed you in?

As you use your spiritual gift to impact others, your life will be impacted.

18 But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where he wants it. 19 How strange a body would be if it had only one part! 20 Yes, there are many parts, but only one body. 21 The eye can never say to the hand, “I don’t need you.” The head can’t say to the feet, “I don’t need you.” 22 In fact, some parts of the body that seem weakest and least important are actually the most necessary. 1 Corinthians 12:18-22 NLT
