How Do I Know God’s Will?

How Do I Know God’s Will?

God’s will for your life is better than your plan for your life.

1 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice – the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. 2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:1-2 NLT

Remove the barriers that keep me from hearing from God

The greatest barrier to hearing from God is me!
● Make the decision to give your life completely to God.
● Allow God to transform you on a daily basis

Ask God what His will is through prayer.

If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. James 1:5 NLT

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. 6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT

Seek for clarity in God’s Word.

Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. Psalm 119:105

● Is there a biblical command that I can follow?

For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. 1 Peter 2:15 ESV

Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 NLT

● Is there a biblical principle I can apply?

Seek out the guidance and advice of others.

Without wise leadership, a nation falls; there is safety in having many advisers. Proverbs 11:14 NLT

● Always refer someone’s advice back to God’s Word

Once you know what the will of God is, do it!

Immediately they left their nets and followed him. Matthew 4:20 ESV

Next Steps…
● Choose to believe that God’s will is perfect and best.
● Surrender my life fully to Christ.
● Act on the things I already know to be the will of God.
